This all-new musical comedy based on the hit movie features the blockbuster title song plus an exciting new score of 18 original numbers by Dolly Parton that mix Broadway and pop with her signature witty lyrics.
March 11-May 14, 2011: “Traces”: Traces is high-energy urban acrobatics — poetic and explosive, humorous and thoughtful. Combining traditional acrobatic forms with street elements such as skateboarding and basketball, mixed in with some theatre and contemporary dance, it surprises, awes and delights at every turn.
May 11-June 5, 2011: Billy Elliot”: This is BILLY ELLIOT, the spectacular show with the heart, humor and passion to be named Broadway’s Tony-winning Best Musical and TIME Magazine’s “Best Musical of the Decade!” Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a surprising talent that inspires his family and his whole community, and changes his life forever. June 14-26, 2011: “Rock of Ages”: In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA’s most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s. Fall 2011: “Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical: HAIR tells the story of a group of friends choosing to speak up and sing out in celebration of love, life and freedom. The first great rock musical, it has some of the most rousing and soulful songs ever written for the stage, including “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Easy to be Hard,” “Good Morning Starshine,” “Aquarius” and the infectious title song, “Hair.”
Dec. 13, 2011-Jan. 1, 2012: “West Side Story”: From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. Arthur Laurents’ book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim — a collection of standards that includes “Tonight,” “America,” “Maria,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Somewhere” — is widely regarded as one of the best ever written. And the extraordinary, Tony®-winning choreography by Jerome Robbins completely changed the language of Broadway dance.
