HIS FIND: Jeffrey Wright and Full Cast Announced for Broadway’s Free Man of Color
Wright, the Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor, has been cast in the lead role of John Guare’s latest play. The play is set in New Orleans in 1801 and revolves around Jacques Cornet (Wright), “a new world Don Juan and the wealthiest inhabitant of this sexually charged and racially progressive city. Jacques thinks all is well in his paradise until history intervenes, setting off a chain of events which no one, much less this free man of color, realizes is about to splinter the world.” Along side Wright will be Paul Dano of There Will Be Blood and Mos (aka Mos Def) of Topdog/Underdog.

However, it’s a bit of a bummer for folks who prefer the separation of film and Broadway stars — it’s becoming increasingly popular to bring hot Hollywood names in to boost sales of the lower-grossing plays.
