HIS FIND: Phillip Seymour Hoffman Returns to Broadway
Inarguably one of the greatest actors of today, Hoffman will be returning to Broadway in fall 2011 in the Arthur Miller’s Death of Salesman. He was previously seen on Broadway in Long Day’s Journey Into Night, for which he earned a Tony nomination. Along with that Tony nod, Hoffman has received three Oscar nominations, winning once for work in the title role if the film Capote. Tony and Oscar winner Mike Nichols will direct and the revival will co-star Linda Emond (The Winter’s Tale, Life (x) 3).
HER FIND: Next to Normal Finalizes Casting for National Tour
Joining the fantastic Alice Ripley in the first national tour of Next to Normal will be Asa Somers (Grey Gardens, Taboo, The Rocky Horror Show) as Dan, Curt Hansen (Hairspray, L.A. revival of Parade) as Gabe, Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening) as Natalie, Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose, Rent) as Dr. Madden and Dr. Fine and Preston K. Sadleir (off-Broadway in Edward Albee’s My, Myself & I) as Henry. What is exciting is that Somers played Drs. Madden and Fine in the Off-Broadway premiere, Hansen understudied the role of Gabe, Hunton served as a Natalie swing in the Broadway company.
The 36-week tour of Next to Normal launches on November 23 at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, after which it makes is stop in Colorado at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in January.
