HIS FIND: Chris Rock Heads to Broadway in Motherf*cker with the Hat
With a week announcing Robin Williams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and John Laraquette heading to the Great White Way, why stop there?! It was announced today that Chris Rock will be joining the original Broadway cast of Motherf**ker with the Hat. Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, will be directing the play written by Adly Guirgis, who also wrote Jesus Hopped the A Train. According to press notes for the play, “Jackie and Veronica have been in love since the 8th grade. But now, Jackie is on parole and living clean and sober under the guidance of his sponsor, Ralph D (played by Chris Rock), while still living and loving with his volatile soul mate Veronica who is fiercely loving, but far from sober. Still, their love is pure. And true. Nothing can come between them – except a hat.” The play opens its limited 14-week run on April 11.
HER FIND: Mad Men’s Elizabeth Moss Heads to the West End
That’s right! Peggy Olson is hopping across the pond! Elisabeth Moss will be joining Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Carribean) for her West End debut in the revival of The Children’s Hour by Lillian Hellman. While new to London, Moss has previously appeared on Broadway in Speed the Plow in 2008, but is probably best known for her film and TV works including The West Wing where she played the President’s daughter, Zoe Barlett. About the play, “Karen Wright (Knightley) and Martha Dobie (Moss) have worked for years to establish their school, and now, with the school flourishing and Karen on the verge of marriage, their lives and loves finally appear secure. However, when malicious student Mary runs away from the school and seeks to avoid being sent back, she draws on hearsay, gossip, and her own imagination, to concoct a story that threatens the school, the marriage, and their entire futures.”
