The Librettist of a musical is responsible for the book or story for musicals, and on October 24th we lost a great one. Joseph Stein was the Librettist for a number of shows, including Zorba and Enter Laughing which are looking to hit Broadway in 2011. But his masterpiece was the book for none other than Fiddler on the Roof for which he won a Tony. He was also nominated for his work on Rags, Zorba and Take Me Along.

HER FIND: Jane Lynch and Carol Burnett to Duet on GLEE
A while ago, we told you that Carol Burnett would be guest starring on Fox’s hit GLEE as Sue Sylvester’s nazi hunting mother. Well, it has been announced that Carol and Jane will be singing together a Bernstein song, “Ohio”.Jane Lynch has revealed that she will be singing “Ohio” from the Broadway musical Wonderful Town. “I guess all the Nazis have been caught, so Mother comes back…We’re going to see another level of Sue’s vulnerability,” Lynch said. It was also announced that Burnett will make a second appearance on the show as she returns for Sue’s wedding, which is set up to compete with Kurt’s dad’s wedding to Finn’s mom.
HIS/HER UPDATE: Elisabeth Moss and Keira Knightley Might Head to Broadway with The Children’s Hour
We reported the other day that Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss would be joining the cast of The Children’s Hour in the West End, co-starring along side Keira Knightley. Now it is rumored that the intent to bring the show to Broadway no sooner than the fall of 2011.
