Well it was bound to happen. With the massive success Disney has seen from it’s musicals, it was only a matter of time before Aladdin found it’s way to becoming a full scale musical production. Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre will mount the feature, which will include all the songs from the film as well as restored songs from early drafts of the score. Chad Beguelin (Elf, All About Me, The Wedding Singer) will be in charge of writing the book, and the show will be directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Elf, The Drowsy Chaperone, Spamalot). Supposedly, this is NOT a pre-Broadway tryout and merely intended for licensing to professional and regional theatres. We’ll see if that stays the case.
