With the winter finally starting to show signs in Boulder, Devil’s Thumb Productions looks to heat things up this February with the second show of their sophomore season, An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein by Shel Silverstein. The show runs Feb 11-12 & 17-19, with an added special show on Valentines Day (Feb 14), at the newly renovated Performance Space in the Wesley Chapel.
Devil’s Thumb Productions Brings a Unique and Comedic Adult Valentine’s Day Alternative to Boulder
The two weekend run of the show features the wacky hijinks you’ve come to associate with author Shel Silverstein, but he has never made you laugh quite like this. So make sure to leave the kids at home and throw all child-like notions you had of Shel Silverstein out the window because these stories feature characters and situations you certainly didn’t read about in The Giving Tree! Dead ponies for presents, throwing grandmas off boats, rhyming prostitutes, and a cursing dog mark some of the fun surprises Silverstein shares with the audience. Bringing this adult comedy to life under the direction of Tyler Pelo are local actors Mickey Alpert, Alison Banowsky, Evan Duggan, Karli Kaiser, Laura Kruegel and Alexandra Lewis.
The company’s special Valentine’s Day show will fall on a Monday, something that is very unusual for the theatre world. “Nobody ever does theatre on Mondays. It’s our day off. It’s almost taboo,” said Anja Hose, managing director of the small local company. This romantic evening will feature a special setup for couples with a sexy dessert tapas tray shared over candlelight, music to set the atmosphere, a raffle featuring various romantic packages, and other zany surprises throughout the evening. But don’t feel limited to a single day to celebrate love (the card companies have been lying) and come celebrate the “Valentines Season” when it fits your schedule best!
Tickets are $12-$25 and can be purchased by visiting the company’s website. For news and more information about the upcoming season, visitwww.devilsthumbproductions.org.
