Weekend foreCAST- Paragon and CS Fine Arts Center

Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

HIS CHOICE: The Producers at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Theatre Company

There’s a reason that Mel Brooks’ The Producers was a hit movie, which became a hit stage musical, which became a movie musical. This timeless classic follows a seasoned Broadway producer and his unlikely sidekick who try to scam the system by making more money producing a flop than a hit. The show is fast-paced, witty, and chock full of  huge production numbers. How could things go wrong?

HER CHOICE: Reasons To Be Pretty at Paragon Theatre Ensemble

Neil LaBute, playwright of The Shape of Things and Fat Pig, brings us the third in his modern trilogy exploring superficiality and how quickly a few true but careless words can alter the course of a relationship. I’m betting that Paragon’s production (featuring Brandon Kruhm, Desiree Gagnon, Lauren Bahlman, and our own HE, David Cates) will bring a raw authenticity to this extremely current script, so there’s no reason to not check out this regional premiere!
