Newsflash: Denver’s Sierra Boggess Goes from Master Class to Rebecca

Denver native Sierra Boggess, who has been seen previously as Ariel in The Little Mermaid and currently plays Christine in London’s Love Never Dies, is slated to star in the new musical Rebecca on Broadway next year.

Boggess, who is booked to first take on the role of Sharon in Broadway revival of Master Class this spring (along with Tyne Daly, another Broadway performer with Denver roots) was cast in the starring role after a reading of Rebecca that took place in London.

Rebecca was originally planned to have a pre-Broadway run in London, but is now heading straight to New York, under producer Ben Sprecher (The Odd Couple, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Brighton Beach Memoirs) and director Michael Blakemore (Noises Off, City of Angels, Kiss Me Kate).

Rebecca is based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier (also an academy-award winning film), but this new production has an original book and lyrics by Michael Kunze, and music by Sylvester Levay, book adaptation by Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard) and English lyrics by Hampton and Kunze.
