Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.
HIS CHOICE: Footloose by Stapleton MCA and The Aurora Fox
From the Aurora Fox: Like the 1984 Kevin Bacon film that inspired it, Footloose follows the story of Ren, who moves with his mother to a small town where dancing is prohibited by law. Teens will be teens, of course, so Ren ends up at odds with the town and especially the local minister, the Rev. Moore. Along the way, the characters sing familiar songs from the movie (“The Girl Gets Around,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” and of course the title tune), but the new songs are enjoyable as well.

HER CHOICE: Hostage Song at Bas Bleu
From timeout.com: Two terrified abductees in an unspecified Middle Eastern country dispel the tension through power-pop ballads and anthems of rage and longing. Clay McLeod Chapman’s often chilling book explores the hostage situation from various perspectives: the victim, the wife, even the son who watches his father’s execution on his QuickTime Player. Avoiding both sentimentality and politics, the piece finds tremendous power in the raw psychological horror of waiting for death as you endure fear and try to connect with your fellow human.
