Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.
HIS CHOICE: Boulder International Fringe Festival
Starting this weekend, Boulder will be home to artists from far and wide in a 12-day performance festival, made up of the widest array of offerings for us to see. The Boulder Fringe has a somewhat of a unique way of choosing shows – a lottery. All applicants are chosen at random, which means that no one is sitting there crafting a specific season. That is really what makes a fringe special; you never quite know what you are going to get, and that should excite any artist.
HER CHOICE: Love! Valour! Compassion! at Vintage
From the Vintage website: Set at a lakeside summer vacation house, Love! Valour! Compassion! is the story of eight gay men spending the three major holiday weekends of one summer together. Winner of the 1995 Tony Award for Best Play, Love! wanders the roads of AIDS and infidelity, flirtation and soul-searching, truth-telling and skinny-dipping!
Show Advisory: Mature Audiences. Nudity. Adult Content.
