Weekend foreCAST – Curious and Lake Dillon

Denver, Theatre, Reviews Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

HIS CHOICE: Clybourne Park at Curious

From the Curious website: Bruce Norris’s bracingly funny CLYBOURNE PARK (2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama) examines issues of race and gentrification “with an irascible fearlessness [that] flies in the face of political correctness” (Los Angeles Times).  The play has been devouring awards and was declared “essential” by the London Independent.

HER CHOICE: SHOUT! at Lake Dillon

From the Lake Dillon website: SHOUT! flips through the years like a musical magazine and takes you back to the music, the fashion and the freedom of the 60’s! This smashing revue tracks five groovy gals as they come of age during those liberating days that made England swing!  SHOUT! enlists terrific new arrangements of such chart-topping hits as “To Sir With Love,” “Downtown,” “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” “Son of A Preacher Man,” and “Goldfinger.” With its irresistible blend of hip-swiveling hits, eye-popping fashions and psychedelic dances from the 60’s, this fun-filled musical will make you want to throw your head back and SHOUT!
