In a modern version of Adam’s seduction by Eve, THE SHAPE OF THINGS pits shy and awkward Adam against analytical and daring Evelyn, a graduate student in art. After a chance meeting at an art museum, Evelyn and Adam embark on an intense relationship that causes Adam to go to extraordinary lengths to improve his appearance and character. What follows is a passionate and disturbing study of power within human relationships and the ethics involved in the relationship of art and life.
“This show really delves into the human psyche and how we are affected by who we love,” says director Laura Kruegel. “LaBute’s modern, realistic dialogue and characters bring out the humor and pain inherent in every relationship, making this show incredibly relatable to a contemporary audience.”
THE SHAPE OF THINGS will feature local actors Joan Marie Dieter as Evelyn, Luke Faser as Adam, Erica Young as Jenny, and Michael Donahue as Phillip.
After success last year, Devil’s Thumb Productions will again be holding a special performance for couples on Tuesday, February 14th in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The evening will include not only the show, but also a desert tray for each couple, drinks, and pre-show entertainment, all in a romantic and intimate atmosphere. This “desert and a show” date was described by many audience members in 2011 as “The best Valentine’s Day deal from Boulder to Denver.”
Single tickets for performances on February 10th-11th, 17-18th, & 24-25th are $15. Tickets for the February 14th Valentine’s Day show start at $40 a couple. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 13, 2012. To purchase tickets, please visit Devil’s Thumb Productions’ website, www.devilsthumbproductions.org/ticketing.
