Weekend foreCAST: Edge, Vintage and Stories on Stage

Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

HIS CHOICE: Glengarry Glen Ross at Edge

From the Edge website: Glengarry Glen Ross is David Mamet’s tough talking story about four Real Estate Salesmen who will do anything to make the deal. Desperation. Greed. The Thrill of the Kill.

HER CHOICE: Becky’s New Car by Vintage

From the Vintage website: Becky Foster is stuck in a jam of middle age, middle management and a middling marriage when a socially inept, grief-stricken millionaire sideswipes her life; she must decide to total it, or fix it. Ride shotgun in this delightful, devious romp, taking twists and turns on the road not taken.

Don’t Forget: Very, Very, VERY Short Stories by Stories on Stage (with Buntport)

From the Stories on Stage website: Assorted two to three-minute stories, read by members of the Buntport Theater Company. The inventive and entertaining Buntport Theater Company will delight in a wide assortment of two to three minute tales that conjure worlds of humor and heartbreak in almost no time at all. Flash Fiction is a genre written in celebration of Shakespeare’s famous axiom that “Brevity is the soul of wit.” Simply put, flash fiction is an extremely compact form of storytelling. The challenge of flash fiction is to tell a complete story, with a beginning, middle and end, in which every single word is absolutely essential.
