Weekend foreCAST: Lake Dillon, Aurora Fox and Hip Hip Heredia

Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

HIS CHOICE: Sylvia at Lake Dillon

From the Lake Dillon website: Greg brings home Sylvia, a stray he found in Central Park, and finds in her a loving escape from job frustrations and the dog days of middle age. Greg’s wife Kate doesn’t take kindly to her man’s new best friend and rival for his affections.  With their marriage in the balance, a series of hilarious and touching complications encourages Greg and Kate to compromise. If all goes well, Sylvia just might become a bone-a-fide member of the family, freshly healed by puppy love.

HER CHOICE: Xanadu by the Aurora Fox

From the Aurora Fox website: Believe in the magic again.
Escape with us and revel in this outrageously fun romantic adventure on skates.Based on the 1980 cult classic film, Xanadu is a sweet story about following your muse, risking it all for love and making your dreams come true. Kind of like The Wedding Singer on skates!

Don’t Forget: Then Sean Met Khalid by Hip Hip Heredia

From the Hip Hip Herediawebsite: Then Sean Met Khalid is a thought provoking and at times quite hilarious one-act musical that tackles racism in a refreshingly different manner. It is the story of a middle-class white family who adopts a black baby, Sean White. Life seems “normal” for Sean until he comes across an interview between Sean Hannity and the late Dr. Khalid Abdul Muhammad. The characters are startlingly relatable; the scenes are uncomfortably close to home and prompt immediate self-reflection. With the help of powerful songs, the show cleverly tackles white privilege in a very accessible way, delivers a powerful message without preaching.
