After witnessing an accidental murder, Tommy is traumatized into catatonia. When his mother finally breaks through his catatonia, he shows himself to be an international pinball superstar. Based on The Who’s rock opera, TOMMY, this tale of a young boy’s journey from pain to triumph is the most electrifying evening of rock and roll ever to play in a theatre!
The next production in Town Hall Arts Center’s 30th Anniversary Season will be The Who’s TOMMY, with Book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff, and Music/Lyrics by Pete Townshend. This rock opera is directed and choreographed by Nick Sugar with musical direction by Donna Kolpan Debreceni. Featured in this production are Russell Mernagh as Tommy, Markus Warren as Captain Walker, and Lisa Finnerty as Mrs. Walker.
Donna Debreceni, Music Director advises, “I think some of our older audience will remember the original The Who’s Tommy when it came out in the late ’60’s. If they liked it then, they’ll LOVE this! Our show will be performed by some of the best singer/actors and musicians in Colorado. Not to mention that our director is one of the best, most creative in the country. It will be a feast for the senses!” It certainly will with classic rock songs such as Pinball Wizard and See Me, Feel Me played by the live band featuring Mitch Jervis (electric guitars), Rick Thompson (bass), Larry Ziehl (drums), Scott Alan Smith (acoustic guitar) and Donna Debreceni on keyboards.
