Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.
HIS CHOICE: In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play at Equinox Theatre
From the Equinox website: In a seemingly perfect, well-to-do Victorian home, proper gentleman and scientist Dr. Givings has innocently invented an extraordinary new device for treating “hysteria” in women (and occasionally men): the vibrator. Adjacent to the doctor’s laboratory, his young and energetic wife tries to tend to their newborn daughter—and wonders exactly what is going on in the next room. When a new “hysterical” patient and her husband bring a wet nurse and their own complicated relationship into the doctor’s home, Dr. and Mrs. Givings must examine the nature of their own marriage, and what it truly means to love someone.

HER CHOICE: The Roast Beef Situation at Buntport
From the Buntport website:
For the last full-length production of our 11th Season, Buntport presents an observation of the politics of the absurd.
JULY 1787: The clown Carlo Delpini is thrown into a London prison for saying the words “roast beef” onstage. Delpini’s outburst contravened the Licensing Act, which made it illegal for unlicensed theaters to use any dialogue that was not accompanied by music.
MAY 2012: Buntport brings Carlo Delpini back to the stage in a comedy about this clown controversy. Part clown show, part satire, part Buntportian romp, The Roast Beef Situation is the 32nd full-length production created collaboratively by the team at Buntport.
