Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.
His Choice: Spring Awakening at Ignite Theatre
From the Ignite website: The regional premiere of the rock musical sensation that won 8 Tony Awards comes to the Aurora Fox. This intense Broadway blockbuster musical centers on sex, the adolescents who want to explore it and the adults who neglectfully keep the truths of sex from them…sex in all its incarnations and darkest complications. Set in 19th-century small-town Germany, Spring Awakening‘s tragic love story between innocent Wendla and bookish Melchior is a hard-hitting commentary on social repression that resounds plenty in the modern day. But with intense alternative rock music by Duncan Sheik, it’s also potent, electrifying theater.

HER CHOICE: Love’s Labor’s Lost at Theatreworks
From the Theatreworks website: A young king and his pals get serious, vowing to diet, study and see no women. When a Princess and her ladies show up . . . well, you can guess. Tons of love, a Russian dance, and a boy Hercules strangling a snake on a summer night. You can’t beat that.
