Weekend foreCAST: Rumors, Sweet Charity, and This Week’s Openings

Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

His Choice: Rumors at Colorado Actors Theatre

From wikipedia: Several affluent couples gather in the posh suburban residence of a couple for a dinner party celebrating their hosts’ tenth anniversary. However, they discover there are no servants, the hostess is missing, and the host – the deputy mayor of New York City – has shot himself through the earlobe. Comic complications arise when, given everyone’s upper class status, they decide they need to do everything possible to conceal the evening’s events from the local police and the media.

Don’t Forget: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at The Arvada Center

From the Arvada Center website: Based on the popular 1988 film starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, this Tony Award winning musical comedy centers on two con men living on the French Riviera. The first is a suave and sophisticated fellow, who makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. The other is a small-time crook who modestly swindles women by arousing their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother’s failing health. When the two attempt to join forces the plan fails miserably so they come to an agreement to pull off one great scam where the winner stays and the other leaves town forever. A madcap battle of the cons ensues that will keep audiences laughing, humming and trying to guess the cons’ next move to the end!

  1. “The Value of Names” opened last Sunday but this weekend is the first for a Sat. night. This is a well acted story about what happened to the relationship between two men when one named the other before the House Committee on Unamerican Activites. Well worth your time. At Mizel Arts and Culteral Center.
