Weekend foreCAST: A Doll’s House, The Sound of Music, and This Week’s Openings

Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

His Choice: A Doll’s House at Byers-Evans House

From the History Colorado website: Ibsen’s A Doll’s House offers a critique of Victorian gender roles and marriage, and it shocked audiences when it debuted in 1879.  The Byers-Evans House theatre company presents Ibsen’s work in the music room of the Byers-Evans House.  Evans family furnishings and beautiful Victorian interiors provide an ideal backdrop for this classic play.

This classic musical is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the von Trapp Family Singers, and features many songs that have become standards, including the title song “The Sound of Music”, “Edelweiss”, “My Favorite Things”, “Climb Ev’ry Moutain”, and “Do-Re-Mi”.
