He Said/She Said’s Favorite of 2012, Number 3: Drowsy Chaperone at BDT

Drowsy Chaperone

[the review of the Broadway production] was using the comparison to dinner theater as a negative criticism, but the reviewer might change their tune if they saw the regional premiere at BDT. It is solidly funny, well performed/designed/produced, and ultimately a memorable night at the theater, dinner or otherwise.”

LASTING IMPRESSION: BDT’s production of this relatively new musical was the first in a string of regional productions, and they really did the piece justice. We have literally broken up laughing in the months since we saw it when we remember the way a particular joke was delivered or fun of a particular song. We still look forward to remembering fondly two stand-out performances — the side-busting Seth Caikowski as Adolpho and the heart-warming Brian Norber as the man in the chair.
