He Said/She Said’s Favorite of 2012, Number 5: Red at Curious
Red1

RED challenges its audience in a unique, unrelenting kind of a way. Your thoughts and feelings are poked and tested by the rivaling men on stage. But if you accept the test and answer the questions, you’ll come out on the other side perhaps knowing something a bit more honest regarding your feelings for art – an experience uncommon in theatre.

LASTING IMPRESSION: Any artist will instantly connect with this look at the gruff and eccentric painter Mark Rothko. But Curious’s production of this new play brought out the humanity in his story and made it relevant and compelling for any audience member. The longest-term impression? The interaction between Benjamin Bonenfant and Larry Hecht in this incredibly tight ensemble show.
