9 to 5: The Musical Audition

Auditions will be held Sunday, October 21st, 5:00pm – 10:00pm
Call backs will be Tuesday, October 23rd from 6:00pm – 10:00pm
If invited to callbacks, please wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to move.

Rehearsals will begin in early January with an opening night of February 22nd running through March 24, 2013.
Performances are typically Thursday through Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees, with some Wednesday and Sunday evenings and Saturday matinees.
Experienced actors with strong vocal and harmony skills, as well as, acting, comedic and dance skills are needed for the following roles:
VIOLET NEWSTEAD – 40s to early 50s. Attractive, strong, ambitious woman. Stands up for what she believes in. Head secretary and Mr. Hart’s administrative assistant. She is also a single mother of a teenager. ALTO
DORALEE RHODES – late 20s- 30s. Sexy in a wholesome country singer way. Mistaken by entire office as Hart’s mistress. Character should “suggest” Dolly Parton-like character but not be an impersonator. Needs to sing country. SOPRANO – HIGH BELT
JUDY BERNLY – early 30s. Attractive, insecure, at first afraid of being on her own but later becomes empowered and strong. She is the “new” girl. Husband just left her for his secretary. SOPRANO – HIGH BELT
ROZ KEITH – late 30s – early 40s. The office kiss-up and second to the boss, a gossip, has an unrequited love for her boss and will do anything to win his approval. ALTO
FRANKLIN HART JR – late 40s to early 50s. Arrogant, self-absorbed, male chauvinist corporate 70′s boss. Surface, smarmy charm. BARITONE
MISSY – late 40s to early 50s. Hart’s wife. Fluttery and ditzy.
JOE – late 20s to early 30s. Good looking, young office accountant. He’s smitten with VIOLET.
DICK – late 30s to mid 40s. Judy’s soon-to-be ex-husband. Average middle-aged guy, sporting a little less hair and a little more paunch than he did ten years ago.
DWAYNE – late 20s to early 30s. Doralee’s husband, very supportive of Doralee.
JOSH – Violet’s teenage son.
MARGARET – any age. Secretary. The office lush.
ENSEMBLE (dancers/singers) – play office workers, denizens of this world. Must play/look 18 to 60. A mix of strong vocal and dance skills.
Prepare: 16 -32 bars of music and a one minute contemporary comedic monologue
· Sheet music for piano accompanist in the correct key (no CD’s or a cappella singing will be accepted)

· Must be over 18
