announces auditions for the musical classic
CAMELOT

Music by Frederick Loewe, Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner
Directed by Bernie Cardell
Music Direction by Lee Ann Scherlong
Choreography by Kelly Van Oosbree

AUDITION DATES:
Friday, January 13th (6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.) and Saturday, January 14th (3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
CALLBACKS: Sunday, January 15th (6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.)

AUDITION LOCATION:
Little Theater Dance Studio, 9142 W. Ken Caryl Ave., Littleton, 80127

We will begin taking audition appointments on Tuesday, December 27, 2011.

ROLES NEEDED:
King Arthur (Male 30 ‘s) A boyish, naive ruler, ready to take charge of his destiny if it will let him.
Guenevere (Female 20’s) A young, spirited woman in love with two men.
Lancelot (Male 20-35) An abundantly self-assured knight from France.
Pellinore (Male 40’s and up) An eccentric old knight and advisor for Arthur.
Merlyn (Male 50’s and up) A famous wizard.
Mordred (Male 20’s) A slithering, oily young man.
Sir Dinadan (Male 20’s – 30’s) Chorus. One of the three knights who serve Arthur.
Sir Sagramore (Male 20’s – 30’s) Chorus. One of the three knights who serve Arthur.
Sir Lionel (Male 20’s – 30’s) Chorus. One of the three knights who serve Arthur.
Nimue (Female – any age) A magic nymph.
Morgan Le Fey (Female 30’s and up) a beautiful and powerful sorceress.
Tom of Warwick (Male 10 y.o. – physically on the small side) A young boy ready to join the Round Table.
Ensemble: We’ll also need 20 – 30 people to fill out the lords and ladies of the royal court of Camelot.
 
PREPARE:
16 – 32 bars from a musical of your choice.
Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped music or a cappella allowed Also, please bring a headshot, resume, and list of conflicts

Dance auditions will take place at callbacks.

REHEARSALS:
All rehearsals will take place in the Littleton/Highlands Ranch area. Rehearsals will begin Saturday, February 11th and will take place on Saturdays and Sundays during the day.
There will also be a few select music rehearsals on weeknights

All actors are paid a stipend.

TECH WEEK:
April 9 – 12, 2012 at the Lakewood Cultural Center; Call time 6:00pm

PERFORMANCES:
April 13 – 29, 2012 at the Lakewood Cultural Center

Fridays – 7:30 pm (6:00 call)
Saturdays – 2:00 pm & 7:30 pm (12:30 & 6:00 calls)
Sundays – 2:00 pm (12:30 call)
There may be additional Thursday night performances

SYNOPSIS:
The legend of King Arthur comes to vibrant life in Lerner and Loewe’s classic musical. Against the backdrop of a king striving to bring order to his chaotic land, the fabled love affair between Arthur’s best friend and most trusted knight Lancelot and Queen Guenevere threatens to bring down the kingdom. The memorable score boasts such songs as I Wonder What the King is Doing Tonight, The Lusty Month of May, If Ever I Would Leave You, and the title song Camelot.
