2/16 The Sorcerer by Empire Lyric

Empire Lyric Players Audition February 16
“The Sorcerer” by Gilbert & Sullivan

Auditions for “The Sorcerer,” a rarely-performed comic operetta by Gilbert & Sullivan, will be held on Saturday February 16 by appointment only at the Washington Park United Methodist Church. The Empire Lyric Players has been dedicated to the works of Gilbert & Sullivan since 1958.

To enhance this year’s performance, we are adding Steampunk elements consistent with the late 1800’s Victorian setting of the operetta.

Rehearsals are Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons beginning February 22.

Performances will be the first two weekends in June at the Elaine Wolf Theater at the Jewish Community Center.

Please email Catherine, ctmontrose@gmail.com, for an audition appointment. Include your name, contact information, and voice type. She will email you music from the show to learn for your audition. Music does not have to be memorized, and an accompanist is provided. Please visit our website, http://www.elps.org, for more information about the company. Our cast is all-volunteer and is expected to work on sets and sell tickets. There is no pay.

Roles include:
Aline – soprano, Alexis – tenor, John Wellington Wells (the sorcerer) – baritone, Constance – mezzo or soprano, Sir Marmaduke – bass/baritone, Doctor Daly – baritone, Lady Sangazure, – alto or mezzo, Mrs. Partlet – alto or mezzo, and a chorus of men and women.
