THE MISANTHROPE, the classic comedy by Moliere (Richard Wilbur translation). Eight male and three female roles available, although some roles may be cross-gendered. Done in modern dress. Rehearsals begin March 26th (Monday through Friday and possibly some weekend evenings). Play opens May 4th and runs Friday through Sunday thereafter through June 10th.
Monday and Tuesday evenings, February 27th & 28th.
At the theatre, five blocks east of Federal at 44th Ave. & Alcott St.
By appointment and with prepared material—five minutes or less of whatever you feel shows you to your best advantage for the part(s) you’re interested in. Play is verse comedy and at least part of the audition material should show facility with comic verse.
$150 minimum honorarium for the run, against a percentage of the net ($450 maximum).

PHILINTE, Male. Forties. Alceste’s friend. Level-headed and reasonable. In love with Eliante.
ORONTE, Male, Forties. An untalented pompous poet. In love with Celimene.
ACASTE, Male. A vapid dandy. Equally in love with Celimene.
CLITANDRE, Male. An equally vapid dandy. Even more equally in love with Celimene.
BASQUE, Male. Thirties or Forties. Celimene’s butler. Continually inebriated.
GUARD, Male. Thirties or Forties. A police officer.
DUBOIS, Male. Twenties or thirties. Alceste’s valet. A bumbling messenger.
CELIMENE, Female. Twenties. Sexy and trendy.
ELIANTE, Female. Thirties. Celimene’s cousin. Attractive. In love with Alceste.
ARSINOE, Female. Forties. A jealous prude.
