4/29 & 4/30 Sound of Music at Up in Lights

The much-loved story of the Von Trapp family’s flight across the mountains works its magic once again, for young and old alike. The Sound of Music brings with it an unforgettable score including some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi and the glorious title song The Sound of Music. The Sound of Music is the perfect summer family treat!

Where:
Auditions and Rehearsals will take place at the Up In Lights Performing Arts Centre, 100 E. 7th St. Loveland, CO 80537.

WHO:
Ages 6 and Up are invited to audition for this show. Children’s roles for ages 6-16. Dancers and non-Dancers are needed. 13 Principal Roles to be cast. There are MANY Supporting/Featured/Ensemble Roles to be cast – an assortment of neighbors of Captain von Trapp, Nazi soldiers, nuns, novices, postulants, and contestants at the Festival Concert.

Vocal Auditions for The Sound of Music:
Adult Auditions: Friday, April 29 from 12:00pm-7:00pm
Child Auditions: Saturday, April 30 from 10:00am-2:00pm

Dance Callback Auditions:
Saturday, April 30 from 3pm-5pm
Only those called back for adult dancing roles will be requested (this includes but is not limited to Leisl, Maria, Capt. Von Trapp and Rolf)

Callbacks:
Sunday, May 8 from 6pm-9pm, those needed for callbacks will be notified by telephone
Callbacks will include a cold read and a small dance audition for child roles.

WHAT TO PREPARE/BRING:
An classical, non-contemporary song 16-32 bars in length for a vocal audition.
An accompanist will be provided for you, no a capella or taped auditions please. Have all music marked and ready to play. You may sing from the show.
Those interested in auditioning for the role of Maria, please prepare a 1 minute monologue.
Please bring a current headshot and performance resume. Along with any conflicts, vacations etc. between the dates of May 23-July 24.

Special Notes:
Commitment level varies for each role.
Some roles will only be required to rehearse once a week.
Some roles require minimal to no dancing.
The roles of Kurt von Trapp, Brigitta von Trapp, Marta von Trapp, and Gretl von Trapp may be double cast.

Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will begin, Monday, May 23 for a full cast read thru at 7:30pm
Rehearsals are Mon., Tues., and Wed. nights from 6:30pm-9:30pm,
Some Saturday rehearsals from 1pm-5pm
All Rehearsals take place at Up In Lights Performing Arts Centre, 100 E. 7th St., Loveland, CO
