Equinox Theatre Company Announces Auditions for
Reefer Madness, The “Hit” Musical

The 2010 Award-winning hit show is back and bigger than ever at The Bug Theatre!

Reefer Madness is inspired by the original 1938 film of the same name. This raucous musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical down-ward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex, and violence. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this hilarious and outrageous show!

All roles are available; please see descriptions below for specifics:

Lecturer: M 30’s-50’s – The smooth-talking lecturer that is here to warn the citizens of the evils of marijuana – Tenor/Baritone
Jimmy: M 20’s – Boy-next-door that falls prey to the madness – Tenor
Mary: F 20’s – Girl-next-door that struggles to save Jimmy from the Reefer Madness – Mezzo/Soprano
Mae: F 30’s – 50’s – The smoky-voiced matron of the Reefer Den – Mezzo
Ralph: M 30’s – 50’s – A Reefer-addicted former college boy that has gone down the wrong path – Tenor
Jack: M 30’s – 50’s – The leader of the Reefer Den – Baritone
Sally: F 20’s – A sultry yet ditzy resident of the Reefer Den – Mezzo
Jesus: M Timeless – Tenor
Ensemble 20s-50s – Both M and F – Any vocal range.

Auditions will be Tuesday June 7th at The Bug Theatre at 7 PM, Call backs will be the following night June 8th

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show, bring sheet music with you as an accompanist will be provided. Please also bring a headshot and resume.

All Performances will be at The Bug Theatre 3654 Navajo Street in Denver. Rehearsals will be at locations TBD. Performances will be August 26 – September 17 on Fri and Sat evenings, plus one Monday night industry night.
