Produced by The Next Pony
The Next Pony is auditioning actors for their second annual stage production of Cannibal! The Musical, written by “South Park” co-creator Trey Parker. Based on Parker’s 1993 cult classic movie, Cannibal! 2011 was a smashing success, performed to sold-out houses and members of the original motion picture cast who declared the production to be “better than the movie”.
Based on actual events, Cannibal! is a comedic retelling of the story of Alferd Packer: a young man who leads a party of miners across the Rocky Mountains, and ultimately, to their doom.
We are re-casting several roles left open by cast members unable to return from last year’s production.
Shannon Bell: Principal/Soloist. Tenor. Involves rigorous stage combat. A preacher and member of Alferd Packer’s mining expedition.
Frank Miller: Principal/Non-Singing. Involves stage combat. A butcher and member of Alferd Packer’s mining expedition.
Frenchy Cabazon: Principal/Soloist. Baritone. Involves stage combat. Leader of a trapping party. Alferd Packer’s worst enemy.
Preston Nutter: Supporting/Soloist. Tenor. Involves light stage combat. A member of Frenchy’s trapping party.
“Indian” Chief: Supporting/Non-Singing. Ethnic (any ethnicity other than Native American).
“Indian” Princess/Chorus. Alto or Soprano. Multiple roles. Attractive. Ethnic (any ethnicity other than Native American).
Chorus: Singing. All ranges. Townspeople, Miners, Saloon girls, “Indians”, etc.
To reserve a 5-minute audition slot, please email email@example.com. To audition, please be prepared to sing a song of your choice from the Cannibal! sound track. Pre-recorded accompaniment will be provided. Alternately, you may also bring a recording of accompaniment for a song from a similar production. Non-singing roles may prepare a short comedic monologue.
Alternate date for audition may be considered for those who cannot attend the scheduled audition.
