The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse will be holding Adult auditions for Mame on Monday, August 27th from 4:00-8:00pm and Youth auditions on Tuesday, August 28th from 4:00-6:00pm. Callbacks for both will be held on Tuesday, August 28th at 7pm. This production will be Directed by Kent Sugg and Choreographed by Brian Burron.
The show runs November 8th, 2012 through January 13th, 2013. Performances are Thursday through Saturday nights and Sunday matinees with added Wednesday nights and Saturday matinees during December before Christmas. There will be a performance on New Years Eve, Monday the 31st. Rehearsals will begin approximately October 9th, 2012.
ADULTS: Needed are 10 women and 10 men ages 20-70. All roles are open. All roles are non-Equity. All roles are paid.
YOUTH: Needed are 2 boys ages 8-12 to share the role of young Patrick which will be double cast. All roles are open. All roles are non-Equity. All roles are paid.
Those auditioning should prepare 16 measures each of two contrasting songs appropriate to the show. Only the Youth may sing a song from the show. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key and mark where to start and end. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded accompaniment or a cappella rendition is allowed. You may be asked for a short monologue no longer than 1 minute. Please bring a current Headshot & Resume to leave with the production team.
Auditions are by appointment only and may be made after July 30th by calling 970-744-3747 during regular Box Office hours, Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 12pm-5pm.
Mame Dennis: (Female 35-55 Mezzo) an elegant woman who loves to party. Glamorous, energetic, eccentric, flamboyant, lovable, extremely liberal.
Patrick Dennis: (Male 8-12 Boy Soprano) Mame’s 10 year old orphaned nephew. Sweet, charming, inquisitive, curious.
Patrick Dennis: (Male 20-30 Baritone) Nephew growing into an adult. Becoming the opposite of how he was raised by Mame.
Agnes Gooch: (Female 30-55 Soprano) Patrick’s caring nanny. Mame’s personal secretary. Inexperienced by life. Dowdy.
Ito: (Male 20-40 Baritone) Mame’s Asian butler. Cheeky, mischievous.
Vera Charles: (Female 30-55 Alto) an operetta star with a dramatic flare. Mame’s best friend. World’s greatest lush. Chic, droll.
Dwight Babcock: (Male 45-65) Stuffy and officious executor of Patrick’s father’s estate.
Beauregard Burnside: (Male 35-55 Baritone) a wealthy Southern gentlemen. Falls in love with Mame. Amiable, dashing, adventurous.
Mother Burnside: (Female 60-80 Soprano) Beau’s feared mother. Head of the Burnside clan.
Sally Cato: (Female 31-45 Mezzo) Mame’s competition for Beau. Extremely jealous of Mame.
Lindsay Woolsey: (Male 30-50) a suave publisher. Mame’s good friend.
Gloria Upson: (Female 20-30) Patrick’s pretentious empty-headed debutante girlfriend. Vapid.
Mrs. Upson: (Female 40-60) Gloria’s delightful yet snobby bigoted Southern mother. Insipid.
Mr. Upson: (Male 40-60) Gloria’s delightful yet snobby bigoted Southern father. Insipid.
Pegeen Ryan: (Female 20-30) Mame’s fiery Irish decorator. Eventually marries Patrick. Forthright.
