Summer foreCAST: The Nerd at Backstage @ the Aurora Fox

WHEN: July 28 – August 21, 2011

From the Backstage website: One of the funniest plays ever written, this extraordinarily inventive, side-splitting comedy centers on the hilarious dilemma of Willum, a young architect, who is visited by a man he’s never met but who saved his life in Vietnam. Rick turns out to be a hopeless “nerd” – a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact.

After just one week, Rick has almost single-handedly destroyed Willum’s career, his life and his sanity. Incident piles upon uproarious incident, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence – a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprise ending of the play.

WHY WE ARE EXCITED: The Nerd is slowly becoming an American classic, a staple on the American theatre scene. This well-written comedy definitely has the potential to have the audience rolling in laughter, and so we have high hopes for this production!
