Weekend foreCAST – Paragon Theatre Ensemble and DCA

Of the shows opening this weekend, these are the ones we want to see. These could be the best shows of the year or these shows could end up being terrible. As always we encourage you to chime in with your thoughts on our list and what shows you are seeing this weekend.

HIS CHOICE: (W)hole at Paragon

Paragon’s production of The Real Thing this summer was one of the best pieces of theatre that I’ve seen in a long while (critique HERE), which sets up (W)hole to be another must-see. Combined that with the fact that this show is a World Premiere grown in Denver lovingly by Tracy Shaffer, and I’m really excited to see what they’ve got in store.

HER CHOICE: Free Range Thinking at the Denver Center

All the evidence points to the conclusion that Robert Dubac’s Free Range Thinking is going to be a one-man show unlike any other I’ve seen before. It remind me of several other kinds of shows — part stand-up, part impressions, part political rant, but all engaging and entertaining. Especially with the state of politics surrounding the current elections, this promises to be a very current, relevant, potentially offensive, but surely interesting night of theatre.
